Karen Lawson MD, is a small unique medical office in Arlington, Virginia specializing in a personalized approach to health care. She is a board-certified internist who has been practicing medicine for 30 years. Opening her own office in 2002, Dr. Lawson offers a safe, intimate and comfortable environment for her patients. The practice is devoted to providing the highest level of personalized care possible. We want all of our patients to consider their experience a positive step in attaining the best healthcare tailored to their needs.

Dr. Karen Lawson is a native of the Washington DC area and almost all of her graduate education has been through Georgetown University Medical School. There are several medical schools in the area, but Georgetown is the only one that emphasizes ethics as well as education. Her internship was through University of Florida in Gainesville which provided a secular top notch facet to her education. She returned to this area for residency at Georgetown where she gained experience at many hospitals as well as NIH and Walter Reed medical centers  allowing assessment of different aspects of patient management goals. The outcome of this experience encouraged membership at only one hospital: the Virginia Hospital Center (Although the best specialist may participate in other hospitals in the area).

She is selected to represent the state of Virginia as a Women of Distinction for 2019

She is the Chief of the Division of Ambulatory (non-hospital) care in the Department of Medicine at Virginia Hospital Center where her goals are to establish strong relationships between the hospital, the hospitalists who care for hospitalized patients, and the outpatient primary care physicians.  Virginia Hospital Center not only excels in providing the best medical care for patients but emphasizes their overall care and satisfaction with the experience.
